Before we get into the write up…
On July 29th, 2010 I stopped by Center Mass Firearms for the first time ever. My intention for that visit was to gather photo & video content and learn a bit about the store so I could post a write up about them on 702shooter.com. Although the manager who spoke with me that day was very pleasant, the snide comments coming from the owner sitting behind the counter didn’t sit well with me. Knowing that my review was going to be fairly negative, I was contemplating if I should even post it. In the meantime, I edited the video and uploaded it to YouTube. Within a couple of hours the video received several hateful responses about the shop, specifically the poor treatment people received directly from the owner. This swayed my decision to not promote the shop and I eventually removed the video from YouTube.
I never stepped foot back in the store and I freely shared my experience with those who asked me about CMF. A couple of years later they contacted me about getting a review posted as well as sponsoring this site. I declined both and sent a detailed email as to why I wanted nothing to do with them. Imagine my surprise when they never responded. ;)
Fast forward to November 1st, 2012…
Rumors started circling about new ownership and management changes at Center Mass so I decided to stop by again and see if they were true. The first thing I noticed is that the sign telling you that they did not allow open carry or loaded conceal carry had been removed. As I entered the store, I saw some familiar faces I’ve gotten to know from other shops around town and this time, I was warmly greeted. The discussion immediately turned to the change in ownership and it continued by acknowledging the past mistakes with emphasis on a commitment to changing the negative reputation the shop had earned over the last 12 years.
Over the next couple of months I continued to stop by and check the progress of the remodel and staff changes. Eventually I received a call from Mike Heck who invited me to come out and see the final product.
Besides the above mentioned changes in staff, the store itself has been drastically improved and the name has evolved into “CMF Tactical Outfitters”. What was once a somewhat crowded retail space has been changed so that the display cabinets now line the edges of the walls instead of jutting out into the middle of the store. Fresh paint, better displays, & a comfy lounge area with a large TV make the place feel much more welcoming. Not to mention the fridge full of complimentary Rock Star. Will Smith (part of the new management team, not the rapper/actor), describes the store as being modeled after the typical surf/skate shops he visited as a teenager. A relaxed and comfortable environment where customers can visit with staff and learn from those who build their own custom guns.
Center Mass Firearms has long been “the spot” in the Las Vegas area where most people would go for their HK parts needs. The majority of the local machine gun ranges use CMF to keep their HK’s running smoothly. As a full on HK distributor, CMF Tactical Outfitters has access to more HK products than any other place in town. Plus, they can get things quicker than anybody else. Their website is also well ranked in the search engines for Heckler & Koch online sales.
The decision was made to stick with offering higher end merchandise and focusing on quality rather than loading the store with less expensive products. Some of the brands available here include: LWRC, Noveske, LMT, Geissele, VLTOR, Surefire, Sig Sauer, Troy, & Howard Leight. At current time, the on-hand stock of all gun stores is depleted but CMF has managed to keep a small flow of higher end “black rifles” in stock. Some are standard builds direct from the manufactures and others are pretty high end custom builds that the shop put together themselves.
This 4,500 square foot gun shop includes 2,400 SF of retail space and the remaining area is divided up between offices, manufacturing, and their 4 lane indoor shooting range. The 7 yard handgun only range was constructed by Shooting Ranges International and it can handle up to and including the mighty 500 Smith & Wesson Magnum. Gun rentals are available.
If you’re like me and have avoided this store because of a previous experience, I encourage you to stop by and see the change in attitude for yourself. This East side sister store of The Range 702 has worked hard to regain your business and in my honest opinion, they’ve accomplished that goal.
Hours
Monday – Saturday:
10:00am – 6:00pm
I really wish we had a place like this by me… at least a place that has their stuff together even remotely like it.
I had the same very bad time with that store, and I just called to see about spending around 8-9 grand-I spent it elsewhere, but maybe I’ll give them another chance-I’m in the market for a custom black gun-AR, but pretty high end. They should thank you for your review! Hope I win-I train a lot, Randy…
Nice to hear about the turn around.
Thanks for re-reviewing this place. It’s good to see improved service in a highend retailer.
The last time I was there the same thing happened to me. The owner was rude and he treated me like I was a kid. He started to yell at me because I wouldn’t buy something he had in stock. I was there to order a LWRC and he got pissed when I wouldn’t settle for something he wanted me to buy. When he was yelling at me for wasting his time he said if I put my hands in pocket there would be a problem( while his hand was on his gun) so in 2 years I refused to ever walk in that place ever again. Now maybe ill go back knowing that dickweed is gone.
It sounds like they have greatly improved their business.
It’s great that they will have higher end rifles like H&K in the store – so many places have to special order them – and it is always nice for the potential customer to see and feel the weapon first hand ;)
Hard to believe a gun shop could have a “no ccw/no weapons” policy and stay in business. It makes my brain hurt just trying to think about it.
I understand it when some random retailer has such a policy – I disagree with it, obviously, and wish for the opportunity to discuss it with the owner to help him/her understand why it’s logically a bad idea – but I understand it. Some people just don’t understand and/or are afraid of guns. But a gun shop? That’s gotta be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
Glad to hear the new ownership has a more appropriate mentality. Wish them the best.
It’s nice to see the change in policy and hope that it works out.
Nice looking gun store! Wish I lived close enough to visit, but 500 rounds of 5.56 might make me feel a tad better about that!
Nice to hear that new owners are more in touch with their customers needs, been to gun shops similar to the previous mentioned and never returned. Sometimes they need to know which way the money is going.
I too was wishing for a good supply store near the house but there were none close until now. I live in a collar county of Chicago and there were few if any stores that would accommodate us. The ones that did exist were terrable at customer assistance and relations. Every time you would go in these stors it seemed like you were bothering them. There is one store up north that was great. It’s called GAT Guns and I was always envious of folks that lived up there to have such a nice convenience. Now we too have a new place in new Lenox IL called Frontline Defense. They are just getting started so stock is limited but they are willing to take the time to talk and get to know their customers. The owner is also in the works of opening an outdoor shooting range for high power rifles in the area which really helps promote the shooting sports. Right now you have to drive at least an hour to find a range but now it will just be a trip of 15 minutes or so.
I think it’s pretty cool that even though you had a bad experience, as did others, you were able to keep an open mind about the store and then give it another chance. The next time I’m in Vegas I’ll do my best to make this store a stop on my itinerary. I’ll also mention it to a few friends of mine who are local to that area. Though, they probably already know about it. As for the 500 res of free 5.56mm, who wouldn’t want a chance to win that. So, count me in please. Y’all take care, stay safe, and shoot straight.
It is very refreshing to see a place like this develop during these times!! i only wish we had a place like this more local to me! I would love to win this contest, but that being said.. well done for the shop as well as your review 702!
Nice looking gun shop, sounds larger than anythung here in S/E Kansas. As for a great giveaway this is nice. I have a prairie dog hunt rapidly approaching and this would make it that much more fun. Thanks for another nice review and giveaway.
That’s just what I need, another excuse to spend some time in Vegas! Looking forward to visiting.
Sounds good that CMF is getting back on the right track. It blows my mind that the previous manager/owner wouldn’t allow open carry. Just wish I lived closer. Good Luck to CMF and thanks for the great giveaway chance!
Looks like I need to take a trip over there. I cannot say that I have previously had a bad experience. But I had since shied away after some stories from friends.
Cool! A place that has a speciality in H&K Products. I hope I can make time to visit the store and purchase a great H&K Product!
I’ve never darkened their doorway after hearing about the owner’s attitude, but will have to check them out now that the new owners have brought sanity to the store.
Nice to see that they have changed management and are now user friendly. Now if we could just get a branch of their store out here…
Glad they turned things around, that is a good looking shop.
I enjoyed your post as it was both informative and well thought out.
What I really liked was the fact that you gave CMF a second chance after initially have such a poor experience.
I too have been in gun stores where the staff, while quite knowledgeable, was rude and/or indifferent. It was not a pleasant experience and it made me wonder how they were able to remain in business with such poor Customer Service skills.
Thank you.
That is always a heart warming experience when you give someone a second chance and they behave how they should have in the first place. I really wish some of my local gun stores would lose the elitist mindset they have, but until they do, I will keep buying my ammo from online. Thank you for the great review!
It’s always nice to see a gun shop get back on the right track and make the customers the top priority. Locally, I’ve started patronizing some new small shops because the larger established shop has developed a mentality that disapproves of non-LEO customers. Based on your review, I think I’ll put CMF on my”to visit” list for the next time I’m in the Vegas area.
BTW, I LOL’ed at the Operator shirt.
Hey whats wrong with the shirt, its rather comfy lol Come say hello next time your in town
Thanks for the review; my least favorite thing is a gun shop that talks down to potential customers. It does nothing for the shop, the customer, or the gun-owning public in general. Good to see a shop putting thought into what they’re doing; I hope it pays off for them many times over.
Will definitely have to go back and try them again. And the ability to get stuff not usually available around town makes it enticing.
Great to hear someone turned the place around and kudos to you for going back with an open mind and giving them the opportunity.
AWESOME timing and the perfect giveaway too!
Next time I’m down at school, which seems like everyday of my life, I’m going to stop by and check it out. It looks drastically different and I’m sure they will do great, especially since there is little down there, let alone gun shops.
Like most others, I used to hate this store. Its my nearest gun shop, but they rarely had anything I wanted, and with one exception, the service blew. I found out about the new ownership from a buddy who bought a gun there. I asked him why he would even go into the store and he stated they had new ownership. I have since been in numerous times and always encounter friendly staff. It has made a complete 180 in my eyes. Thanks for lettinzg others know how great this place has become!
I too had a bad experience there once with my father present. The people there were rude and making comments “behind my back” so to speak. The comments were about our knowledge of firearms. I was glad that Locked and Loaded opened in Henderson after that. Glad to see they finally got their stuff together. Can’t have too many firearms shops in the valley!
“Can’t have too many firearms shops in the valley!”
Unfortunately, not everybody would agree with that statement. Maybe one day that will change and more of the shops will get along with each other. There are other industries where competitors still manage to pull together to protect the interests of the group as a whole. Wouldn’t it be nice if the firearms business were more like that? ;)
It’s a great thing when bad PR in relation to anything firearms related goes away. It’s unfortunate that the new owners will have an uphill battle against the years of bad experiences, but it looks like they’re well on their way down the right track.
Hard to see an owner who has obviously put a lot of sweat into opening their own store end up becoming the main reason it doesn’t succeed. The two times I’ve personally seen it were both due to the owners having been in a wreck, one on a motorcycle and the other in a car, where they sustained head injuries. Those injuries eventually caused personality changes of rash behavior and extremely hot tempers. I don’t know what this guy’s deal was but I am glad that the business survived and seems to have turned the corner.
This store is very very far from me. This is partially the reason I have never stopped by. Of course, I have read some not so complimentary reviews on other sites and that has always kept me from making the long trek. Based on this review, I will take the time to make the drive and stop by.
I appreciate the detailed information in the review giving the focus of the shop and which clientele they are marketing to.
A lot has been changed at the store, we hope you will come see that the drive will be worth it.
Its a long way from Smith Valley but if I ever make it down that way I will surely stop by.
I am always amazed at what new ownership can do for a store and employees.
I’d be like a kid in a candy shop in there. Gun stores around here aren’t anywhere near that size and their stock leaves a lot to be desired.
It certainly looks like a great shop but I will have to stop by next time I hit Vegas to see if the customer service has improved. Thanks for the review.
I have purchased two firearms from this store. Despite paying MSRP the staff was more than friendly to deal with. They made me feel like a valued customer.
I admire your willingness to give them another chance, but only after the ownership changed hands. I am very much the same way. I will not tolerate rudeness or poor service, and I refuse to deal with those kinds of places. I would rather pay twice as much at a shop that is 45 minutes away rather than deal with a place I have written off. It’s good to stick to your guns, so to speak.
Glad to hear they are turning things around. Hate to think of how many newbies said to heck with shooting after meeting that “induhvidual”.
That is really good to see, I’ll make sure to stop in again next time I’m out there!
Why is it so hard for certain retailers or owners to understand that, when I walk through their doors to spend my hard-earned $$, that it would be wise to treat potential customers with dignity, courtesy, and respect.
A sense of humor would also go a long way to turn me into a repeat customer.
We try to do just that!
Glad to hear that the new ownership is open to actually pleasing their customers, next time I am though the area I will have to check them out as it sounds like a nice place now.
Center Mass Firearms sounds and looks like an awesome gun shop. We don’t have anything to compare with it here in Greensboro, NC. I particularly like the opportunity to rent guns and shoot them on the indoor range. I’ve read many good things about the H&K USP and have wanted to shoot one but I don’t know anyone who owns one. If I get out to Vegas again, I will certainly stop by and try one out.
Great News that this company has decided to stay in business! Capitalism really does affect our markets! I’ve gotten really tired of most of the shops by me (in the nanny state of Kalifornia), can’t stand the snark and unprofessional attitudes. I’ll have to check this place out while traveling through. Thanks 702 Shooter!
Wow, I guess that I was not the only unhappy customer the old owner or management had. I too swore to never enter that building again. Now I will have to go check it out and see how things are. It is tough to put some bad experiences aside but the new owners or management may deserve a second chance. Hoping they treat the shooting community better then in the past. “Shoot on”
I wish I had a place like this in my city
Unfortunately, there are a lot of gun shops still around where the owner has an attitude or chip on their shoulder, By publishing reviews of turnarounds when gun friendly operators purchase a shop, more of the hard line owners may wake up. They are losing business to ever increasing buyers. Also, no one likes being overcharged because they new to the gun community. There are gun shops I will never step foot in again. I am not a boot camp recruit, who they can chew up one side and down the other. I purchase ammo by the case, and two or three firearms per year. I look for quality accessories and usually buy a couple of holsters newly out on the market with added smart features. Keep up the good work and integrity to your readers in the gun community. The new population to our community need a good source to point them in the right direction.
It seems to be a trend with gun stores waking up and providing good customer service in an inviting atmosphere. Many still have yet to realize the potential in this, but I think it’s increasing. Thanks for the review and the chance at the giveaway!
The remodel looks good. I was in less than a year ago and what a difference with the change of the counters. I just might have to stop by before work today to pick up a holster for my Glock.
Love the name. I always hate when people ask “why didn’t they just shoot him in the leg?”
I love to hear stories about a shop that has turned things around. People want to feel like the owner and the employees are interested in helping the customer out. That is the way to build loyalty. I will definitely check them out next time i am up there.
I recall the original review for Center Mass Firearms, and was amazed that a business person would behave in such a manner. With the current administration driving demand for guns & ammo, a lot of new stores have popped up, and not all of them are good. You deserve a lot of credit for staying in tune with the market and overcoming your first experience to give them another chance. I get to Vegas a couple of times a year, and have avoided CMF, but will make a point of visiting next time I’m in town.
Wow a gun store. Must be nice to have a place to actually walk in and buy something. Living in NY it’s a challenge.
Had a great experience with Jeff and the guys at Center Mass. Bought an AR through them and they kept me up to speed on delivery date. Then when I wanted to do more with the rifle they were very helpful with suggestions and info about various manufacturers. if i needed something they didn’t have in stock they would take my name and number and call me as soon as it came in. Sad to say not every store treats their customers as well as these guys do
702, Thanks for the update on this shop. I didn’t know all of those changes had taken place. It will definately be worth the drive to go check them out over there. Last time I was in there was a long time ago. I had similar poor experiences so I never went back. In light of this review I think it is time to go see all the changes for myself. Been looking for some noveske parts anyway. Thanks again for the write up…
I remember the first time I went there to buy a few things and use the range. Walking in, open carrying, like usually, I felt like the ATF was raiding me. As I took my weapon out of my holster, I was treated like I didn’t know anything. Rules are rules and I understand. Anyway, I came back and asked about things, and it was not pleasant. After I Heard a while ago it was under new management, I went back. I love the place now. Its a completely different feel. Like always, I thank 702shooter for all the good info you give us
I can’t understand how so many shops can stay in business with the way they treat customers.
It would be interesting to see an industry group like NSSF conduct a survey of shooters to find out how shops treat their customers and how they could improve. A bad shop can cause great damage to the gun community, especially newcomers that might be forever lost because they found a bad shop.
I hope CMF does well under new management.
Thank you for your review and for the pictures! The shop looks very different from the last time I was there. Like you, I also had a very negative experience under the previous management. Good to see that the new management is trying to turn the shop around. I will have to stop by next time I head out to BRPC.
I too had stayed away due to warnings about attitudes and the asinine inability to carry. Nice to hear changes for the better have been made and now I have a place to go should I need anything for my HK.
It was good to see a positive review. Sounds like a place to visit when I take a trip south this fall. Don’t get to LV much, but am planning a trip to front site this fall. This review gives me another place to visit when I’m down that way. Winning that ammo would be nice for the carbine class I plan to attend. Thanks for the chance
I actually stopped by this place a few years ago and had the same service (horrible). Glad to hear about new & better service. We’ll stop by next time we’re in town.
It’s nice to see a company who recognizes what the previous owner did wrong and it now going out of its way to try to fix the problems. So often companies will just try and ignore the prior issues hoping that the “Under new ownership” signs will fix things and that never works.
Also have to admit Will Smith looks a lot different than I always thought ;). Will definitely check them out next time I’m in Vegas.
Great to hear that positive changes were made so they can better serve the community. I would love to have a shop like that we’re I live. Thanks for the giveaway!
Nice to see that things have changed for the better. I will definitely check it out the next time I’m on that side of town.
Holy Cow! Complimentary Rock Star!!! This place sounds awesome! Wish I lived close enough to visit. But I don’t know how well I would shoot in the indoor shooting range after being hyped up on Rock Star…
I’m glad to see that the shop has done a turnaround as it were. Perhaps I’ll make a pitstop over there the next time that I’m in the area.
I’m sure glad to hear that a firearms business is showing some grit and staying in. I wish I was closer to them so I could stop by.
Thats great sounds like they are turning the place around I wish i was closer sounds like there are quite a few places in your area that have a lot more supplies than were I’m at although a small amount of things are starting to trickle in but prices still are abnormally hi and I cant find 223 or 22lr anywhere in washington how about it anyone else have better luck?
I just ran across an ad in backpage yesterday and clicked on it and went to their site. I added them to favorites and intended to visit them next time I am in town. Then I saw this review. I was looking for a H&K dealer. Being that You Centermass guys are commenting …..do You know where I can find any 10 rd mags for my slb 2000 ? Good review .Thanks 702 !
The only place I have seen these mags lately has been through private sales.. check the forums and boards. or places like ebay or gunsamerica
Nice write up and great to see a business make a 180 and actually want customers.. The pics look great and so does the store, I hope to find time on my next visit to Vegas to see it
Good to hear the Prep H worked. I’ll have to check them out.
It is really nice to know that they are more focused on quality than quantity. I would rather know that what I am purchasing is worth it. I am going to go check out the store for sure. Thank you so much for letting us know that their is a gun store out there that is more interested in putting the buyer first
Thanks for the opportunity! I hope to visit the shop and gun range the next time I am in the Vegas area. Sounds like they are really doing their best to gain and keep their customers happy, a rarity these days.
Have not visited previously, as is on the other end of town, but when I was looking for it once, I did not start far enough south to find it. Next time I’m down in the area will have to make a visit.
Jeff
I was passing through that AO a few weeks ago…would’ve stopped in had I know I known.
Good to hear there’s another option in town. Inconsistencies in service in the shops around town seems to be the biggest negative.
thats awesome! these days anyone who doesnt treat customer satisfaction as their top priority deserves to fail. expecially in the gun business. glad to see theres another good local shop to check out soon.
Although I have not yet been to CMF, I Liked their Facebook page a few months ago. They are one of the few stores who puts out frequent updates when new items come in stock. With your endorsement, I feel good about stopping in and giving them my business.
Even though it took twelve years and new ownership of the gun shop to turn it around to a friendlier shop, it took a huge amount of ego power to even walk back into the shop after you have been treated so poorly. For that I say great job on, as they say, “keeping it fair and real.” That kind of intestinal fortitude is what makes America great.
It sounds like the shop is a cool place to visit. Marketing the atmosphere of the shop after a skate shop is an ingenious idea. Free rock stars, stickers, or anything free is great. It makes you feel good.
I also like at the bottom of the sign that on duty law enforcement are exempt.
Great job on reporting this shop to us and keep up the fair and just reporting.
I really wish we had anything like this anywhere near me. I can’t find anywhere that will rent you guns, let alone an indoor range.
My area has one gun shop and several pawn shops claiming to be gun specific. It would be nice to have something like this. The space looks professional yet inviting. Nice work CMF. Also, anyone hazard a guess to when I am going to be able to get ammo again at a reasonable price?
My guess is never. At least not 5.56 and the like.
The last time ammo prices jumped like this, when they settled back down they were stil close to twice the amount as before. A case of 5.56 was 150-180 then they came down to 300-350. Now they are 600-900. I have a feeling we are looking at 450-600 when things settle down and personally, I don’t find that very reasonable. I hope I’m wrong though. :)
5.56 would be great
This is the 1 and only time I will post a comment about this….
If this is your attempt at entering this drawing, it isn’t gonna fly. Please read the rules that I linked to.
Thank you for the excellent review and pictures. I always had an interest in getting a AR rifle, but due to lack of experience with them (and attitudes that I’ve been met with when attempting to ask questions at other stores) I had tossed the idea aside. This store is on the complete opposite side of the valley for me, but I will be swinging by this weekend to take a look around, because any store with a good attitude is worth the drive.
I had the same experience a couple years ago, really really bad service.I’m happy someone new took over and am happy to add them to my resource list
Nice review of a store that I have not had the opportunity to check out yet. But I will certainly go in now after reading this review. Thanks.
In for the giveaway.
I had a very bad first impression the first time in went there. The owner just acted like I am so much better then you type of attitude. I have never been back but I love the range and if this is there store then I will have no problem going there.
Yep, same owners now and Mike Heck oversees the management of both places. :)
I appreciate the positive comments. It goes without saying this project has been an uphill battle. Overcoming a decade of negative experiences is not easy at all. That being said we have been pleasantly surprised by the local crowd that has given the store a second chance. Thanks to all for your patience as the CMF team adjusts fire.
Glad to hear about the turnaround. 500 rounds of 5.56 would be awesome!
Good review, I’m going to pay them a visit and see for myself
I was in there two years ago to try out their range since I live five minutes away…I felt like I inconvenienced them by using the range…never went back…seems like a recurrent theme in comments, one and done…I will have to check them out again, thanks for the updated review!
Cool store and great location and knowledgable employees! Keep on keeping on and “molon labe”
As a long time small business owner I am always pleased to read or hear about a complete positive turnaround in any business. Sounds like these guys are doing their very best to achieve exactly that. I hope members in their market area will make a effort to give them a chance………..KJB
Next time I’m in the Vegas area I’ll have to stop by. We have several gun shops in my home town, but they are all on the small side.
Look forward to further reviews.
Unlike most of America, I’ve not been to Las Vegas. I’m guessing that I will need to add CMF to my list of “must visit”!! I hope the new store goes well!!!
I just came into some extra cash..$$$$… I plan to spend the bulk of it at CMF on a couple of new weapons I could use the ammo from the giveaway for one of the new weapons…
Years ago I was told by my friends to avoid Center Mass because they were rude, disrespectfull and dishonest. So I actually have never stepped into the place. But after watching the video posted here and all the excellent comments on CMF I will add CMF to my gun stores to visit. The place does look clean and organized and a place I could definately spend some money!!!
I haven’t been to CMF yet, but after reading this great review I will taking a drive over there. I think its a good thing to not only support the people helping protect the 2. A but local business as well. Lets remember vote and vote with our Dollars!
Thanks for the great blog.
I’ll have to stop in and check them out one of these days. Last time I was in there was probably late December. Still had the signs on the door, and 1k case of PMC .223 was $450. Should’ve bought, but their now-sister store Range702 had the same stuff for $360/cs still. Which I felt was still pricey. Being that I’m not the type of guy to perpetuate a crisis trying to make a fast buck off fellow gun owners, or anyone else for that matter, I passed. I still kick myself just for not having much to shoot more than anything. I guess if I scoped my AR instead of running the Aimpoint, I could burn more time/less ammo. But something tells me I’d better serve my needs buying a .308 AR for that. It never ends. That’s probably a good thing…
Thanks for the write-up!
I have never been to NV but my wife and I are talking about taking a trip to Vegas this summer so I’ll have to talk her into making a trip out to the store.
The pics and description remind me a lot of a store in the area but I’ll have to see if I can find some parts for my next build when I’m out there. If nothing else it sounds like a good place to meet some new people and talk firearms.
Beautiful store. I will definitely check it out if I’m ever in the area. I don’t know if I would shop at a sgun store that didn’t allow legal gun carry in the store as long as the state allowed it, of course. It tells me they don’t share my views of the second amendment.
So after reading your whole article and looking at all the pics looks like a nice place. I would definitely check it out. I never heard of that place but they look like they have a lot of stock. I wonder if the prices are any good? Good article keep it up!
What is up with the sign before hand? So you couldn’t go in with your firearm?
“The first thing I noticed is that the sign telling you that they did not allow open carry or loaded conceal carry had been removed. “
Good looking store. Definitely a place i would like to check out if I’m ever in the area.
Good to know the store is under new management. I went there years ago and recieved the same negative treatment and haven’t been back. I will be stopping by and checking out the remodel.
Well I was in the area and stopped in to see how things were. This is after promising myself that I would never step back in that place again. I was greated as I entered the store, ok so far, and was given a chance to look arround then asked if they help me with anything, i stated that i was just checking things out and was told that if there was anything that i would like to see or needed any help that they were there. Over heard one employee talking to a customer and he was great no bs just good info and when he did not have the answer there was no bs or lie he asked a fellow employee for the answer and did not sweet doing so. I hole that Center Mass can get over the dammage caused by prior owners or management and suceed they have a up hill battle but seam to be on the right track. Great experience this time and I will be back.
I’ll be in next week, looks like a nice place (hope I can find it).
We have shopped several gun stores in the Las Vegas/Henderson area. With this store included we have been treated poorly. When we visited the store in past history the same attitude was portrayed. We decided to not shop this store again. We then turned to a very few select dealers due to their honesty, service, and commitment to prices. The design of the new store looks more organized and is nice that they have an area to try out new guns. My spouse too was a surfer growing up and agrees that the store has a more welcoming feeling. We have a mass amount of guns however ammo is hard to find. The prices on ammo have been ridiculous. We will stop by and see the store soon and decide if we can add this location to our collection of ammo/gun dealers. I think it is great that someone took over the store and truly cared about customer service. That is a rarity in Las Vegas. Keep up the good work and we will see you soon.
I’ve been wanting an MP5 for a loooonnngggg time now….but have avoided this place due to the word on the street about it….I may have to stop by now that it’s in the hands of some friendlier types….
I recall the 2010 times. Sad that it was like that, but it was typical of many LV gun stores. I am delighted to learn of a turn in the trend, where a focus on customer service and a well designed retail space will replace the grumpy fella behind the counter, the know it all talking down to you, and the mindless array of products laid out in a maze.
Based on this recent review, I’ll gladly give CMF a visit. Thanks for the update on the change.
I would indeed be sweet and advantageous to win some 5.56. I can’t even find any .243 Winchester at a decent price. If I win this ammo I guess I’ll just have to buy an ar-15 to go along with it.
Or, you could save it in case you win the AR15 pistol I’m about to review and giveaway… :)
As a Colorado resident I wish we had a range and store like this near me. the nearest is 1 1/2 hours away. I look forward to visiting the store when I do get to Vegas. It sounds like it carries the product(s) I am interested in.
I live in rural Texas and though I have a place to shoot on my farm, it would be nice to have a store/range like this local to me … The ammo would come in very handy for hog hunting
I like to shoot in NW Arizona, and think I’ll plan a trip up to the store for Ammo sometime. Thanks!
Nice store but not in my neighborhood.
So after reading your article I have decided to check out the store in a few weeks when I have more spare time. I have visited many LGS in Las Vegas and yet have not found on that has a staff that is easy to talk to and to deal with. Most of the time when I ask questions or take my time I sense an attitude of impatience. I like to price out my options, I like to hold some different guns before buying one, there is no need to rush me or roll your eyes at me, it just makes me want to leave and never come back. Customer service to me is a number one priority because if a store provides good customer service then I am more likely to buy there than anywhere else.
So thank you for the article, I will definitely check them out.
Also thank you for this opportunity for this generous giveaway, my ar-15 is hungry
Ill be sure to check em out next time I get to vegas.
I finally stopped in this last week. It’s a bit of a drive, but I had business in the area so it worked out. Fairly decent selection of handguns in the cases close to going market prices. Some lower, some on par and some higher. Even had some long guns up on the wall. Gun inventory on display and for sale in a gun store… whouldathunk?
Mountain of pmags in the case for sale as well as an ample supply of 5.56. 2 brands. Picked up a box of xtac for $16.16 out the door. (20 round box.) So, including tax that is $0.81/round. There were well over 400 boxes between the two brands.
Service was good. I was greeted when I came and as I made my way from case to case, display to display was asked by other employees if I needed help. Chatted up the staff about guns and ammo and the fact that I had read a review on this website.
If they were in my backyard, like NFA, I’d shop them.
great giveaway. I’ve been here and the people who work here are very knowledge. highly recommended for people to stop by
very impressive store, friendly staff, all very knowledgeable and helpful. I have to say i will be returning. I also would to say “thank you” for the fantastic givaway opportunity.
If I’m ever in the area, I definitely want to check out the store so I can form my own opinion. We have a couple of gun stores down here in Georgia that aren’t very people oriented either. I don’t see how they stay in business.
Looks like a sweet store, more shops should look this professional! Will have to stop by on my next Vegas trip. Glad you were able to report on a “good” turnaround from a previously negative shop.
From the sounds of it looks like a cool shop. Like the idea of a lounge area to be able to sit and bullshit. Don’t get to Vegas often but will make this shop a must see. Thanks for the info.
after reading your article regarding the store and changes made it was outstanding that someone took charge and actually made it friendly toward gun owner’s by removing the former owner/ supervisor who by his action’s toward people was a dick, removing a sign that has no business in a gun store prohibiting concealed carry. i don’t know the person responsible for the changes personally but his ideas of having a place for customer’s to relax while exchanging ideas about firarms with the techs. on duty is cutting edge this person will take this store to the next level making it one of the best and biggest stores in nevada. if the people who own this store weather it be a single person or a corporation will listen to the person responsible for the changes to this store they will go far in this business that’s what alot of people have failed to do in this business is keep it friendly toward customers where people can relax and talk about firearms/products, most just have a few display cases and treat their customers just like a transaction that needs to be completed as soon as possible answering any questions as quick as they can making the customer feel like their rushing them out the door. the changes you have made and the atmosphere that you’ve provided to your customers in your store will ensure your success in this business because you have remembered to treat your customers like someone rather than another transaction.
god bless phillip barnes us. army retired
I am glad to hear about the change. It was a bad place to go to before. The owner insulted everybody.

It’s been awhile since I/ve been to Vegas but I’m planning a visit in the near future and though the casinos are okay the gun shops seem to be better. This looks like a winner.
I have a friend who recently retired from Caesar’s Palace where he worked as a dealer for many years. Lived on Casco Way as I remember. Visiting was enjoyable except for my first experience after landing and temp. was 107 deg!!! Whoa!! Ohio seemed much more like where I’d like to be, but–Chuck has lots of nice things to say about y’all and we intend to visit for a few days soon and hope to meet with all you and go thru that super looking store. You have to be proud of all this as it sure doesn’t look anything like ones I’ve been in from Carolinas to Michigan. Some are just a hole in the wall with signs and arrows pointing to ‘restrooms’. Very little inventory and depend on ‘trade-ins’ as a means of staying alive. Don’t get me wrong here. There are some very nice establishments, but, take your time while looking. Hope to see ya soon!!

I am honestly glad to see a company pull its respective head from their fourth point and realize that their customers aren’t doing them a favor.
One of the better shops in the Vegas area in my opinion. It’s refreshing to see more shops like this. Theyve got my business and will for the foreseeable future.
I live literally less than a mile away from CMF and would very rarely go into the shop, because of the exact reasons you stated in your review. I would travel farther away to get my parts, ammo etc.. I recently went in after the signs changed, and the stated new management and ownership. I was plesantly surprised with the changes in decor and staff. good job guys!
I had heard similar stories about CMF and have avoided the store since it originally opened. At the end of last year a manager of mine recommended the store and I told him the rumors I had heard. He said the store was different but I was still reluctant to head out to BFE to see if it was true. About a month ago and after 3 days of calling around trying to find a shop that would assemble 2 AR uppers and hearing the ridiculous turn over times and costs involved, I thought I would have to wait until the end of all the madness to get them assembled. I called CMF and they quoted the lowest for both. I immediately took over all the parts, the store was clean and has an openness that makes you not feel overwhelmed like in other stores. Zino said that he would get the upper together in about a week and he would let me know if he had any issues. Like with all things, there were some issues with the parts I had brought but the staff quickly offered solutions and got the uppers but together. Both uppers fire without issue and I couldn’t be happier with the results and service. Zino & Ryan gave great personal service and the rest of the staff is friendly while you browse. I will definitely be doing the bulk of my purchases from CMF. Plus while others were charging $18.99 for PMC X-Tac, CMF was charging $14.99. This is a shop that is tailored for the practical shooter and I appreciate that they don’t want to adopt a “Beverly Hills Gun Club persona”!
Would like to have a shop like this around us in Birmingham, AL. Unfortunately I have bad experiences with all local shops at one time or another. Thanks for the write up.
Glad to see another good gun store in town! I usually shop by word of mouth, from what I’m hearing ill definitely put this store in my radar when I’m out looking to buy.
A no guns allowed sign in a gun store is an oxymoron, glad to see its not a policy anymore! Thanks
I am not close enough to shop here in person but will definitely check them out online. It is always nice to see a story like this when a business gets turned around by new owner’s or management and gets their act together and starts treating customers the way WE DESERVE TO BE TREATED AND APPRECIATED!! I too am a small business owner and try my best to treat EVERY customer like they are the best customer I have whether they are buying or just looking because this is the way I want to be treated when I am TRYING to spend my hard earned cash with them. I swear I AM AMAZED EVERYDAY at the businesses that are so successful…AND SO INDEPENDENT that they could care less about their customers or whether they ever come back or not. It makes me wonder how they get to be so successful by treating their customers this way! Thumbs up to you CMF and best wishes to your business! And thanks 702Shooter for another great review!
While I don’t live in Vegas, I do travel there on a rare occasion. The next time I’m there I’ll stop in and see what’s what. Thanks for a great article. And a great giveaway. Y’all take care and stay safe and shoot straight.
Thanks 702Shooter for the chance at the ammo giveaway. Lord knows we could all use it.
Also thanks for the writeup on CMF Tactical Outfitters. I’ll have to visit their shop next time I’m in the Vegas area. I wish a successful business to Will and the new staff/management there. It’s great to have a shop focused on welcoming all level of customers. That’s cool little range too! Cheers!
Seems like there is at least one CMF store (previous incarnation that is) in every locale. One in the city of Frederick, MD, is run by an arrogant owner whose prices suggest he has a monopoly on guns for sale and is most unfriendly to new customers (sound familiar?). Lately he has been getting much needed competition, but he still is just as arrogant as ever. The way you treated the original CMF is the way to go. Thanks for making me feel I’m in good company!
I don’t shoot this caliber personally, but I have many friends that do. Just as I’m always looking for ammo so are they. Any opportunity to help them out is welcome.
I don’t make it to Vegas often, Actually the last time I was there was last November. However, my next visit will definitely include visiting CMF Tactical Outfitters.
Went to this store one time before the change of ownership and after seeing the no loaded guns (including CCW) sign I thought this is the last time I come here! I live about 1/2 mile from the store.
I have been to the store at least 7 times since the change and used the range twice. These guys want your business and act like it. My nephew, my son, and a friend all bought hand guns here and they gave us all free range use cards.
Any gun store that says no loaded guns for CCW will not see me buying at their store, glad to see they changed that or they would have lost the sale of the guns above!
Thanks guys! Like the store now and the changes for the better!
Glad they now allow OC in their store. That is a deal breaker for me when choosing where to spend my money.
Here in Colorado ammo is very hard to come by I have take days off just to stand in line even getting in early to be the first in line only to find three differnt stores didnt get any .556 or .223 please give a old guy from Colorado a shot (or 500) thanks
Could always use more ammo for tyranny and zombie apocalypse.
500 rounds of ammo for my AR is exactly what I need. Every local store in my area has been cleaned out of ammo. It looks like CMF Tactical Outfitters has definitely turned itself around. I plan to be in Vegas for a conference in July and will check out the store.
I never have enough ammo. wow
Man, I wish I had a store like that around my area. Not only for the content, but also for the service & atmosphere. I hate walking into almost all of the gun shops/sporting goods stores around here and being treated like a stranger.
Once again Californians will have to make the long commute. Looks nice. Will have to drop by on the next Vegas outing.
Hey I Just received my new Sterling Arsenal .458 SOCOM Upper, Anybody have a line on some ammo?
I just got my first pistol. I brought my friend along to help me out. I’ve only been to the range once, but I think I caught the bug.
I’d like to give a big thank you to CMF Tactical and 702Shooter.com for giving me this opportunity to replenish my meager ammunition stock during this shortage. I’ve been holding back from shooting my AR the past few months, but now I’m set for a few range trips. I’m looking forward to doing more business in the future with CMF Tactical. The shop is definitely improved over the old one. Thanks again!
Congrats on your win!
its awesome some one would have a give away like this. Not often you see that but it is generous for that a thinks. I never win but win or not thanks for the opportunity.
Yeah I’ve lived in Henderson all my life and I have been to CMF 2 times and one of those was about 1 month ago and I was very pleased how they had changed. As a Veteran of foreign War I hated these arrogant assholes who worked here before but now not only are the new staff knowledged but they are respectful and polite. So for the first time since they opened I would love to welcome them to MY TOWN.
