I know many of you may find this difficult to believe but apparently people like free stuff. Who knew right? Anyway, in order to please the masses and offer something back to the community, Ben Bunker from NevadaGunTrustAttorney.com , in participation with GlockVector Industries, has booked Larry Vickers for a 3 day carbine training course October 19-21, 2012 in Las Vegas, NV. There are 15 spots in the class and Ben is giving them all away. EDIT: I’ve had way too many people ask me how much the class spots are selling for. YOU CAN NOT BUY INTO THIS CLASS!

Each store will be giving away at least one slot in the class and you may enter as many times as you like, although you can only win once.
So what’s better than a free 3 day carbine class with Larry Vickers? Well, how about a free BCM AR-15 lightweight carbine? Yep, you read that right. Thanks to Mr. Bunker, 702shooter.com is also giving away a slot in the class and we have a rifle to go along with it!
Of course, a rifle and training are useless without ammo so how about 1000 rounds of PMC 223A as well? I know, all this free stuff can make for quite the burden so I’m sure we won’t get very many people entering this drawing. 
This unfired Bravo Company AR has been upgraded a bit too. For starters, the 14.5″ chrome lined barrel now has a BattleComp compensator welded on so the winner does not need to worry about registering it as an SBR. The front sight post has been cut down to make way for the new 11″ Troy Industries TRX BattleRail. Magpul’s MBUIS were added along with a new MOE Stock and MOE+ grip. 3 PMAGs with Ranger Plates will also go with the package. The trigger pin was loose so some KNS Non-Rotating hammer and trigger pins were added to the mix. The bolt, carrier, and hammer have all been Nickle Boron coated by WMD Guns.

As I was checking it out, I noticed that the trigger was the weak link in the rifle . It had a lot of creep and was not all that smooth. Lucky for you guys, Jim West of Wild West Guns noticed this too and offered to rework the trigger to make it more respectable. Jim also offered to do some work on the barrel which consists of cleaning up the weld and re-parkerizing the entire barrel and compensator.

So what’s the catch? Well, there are a couple of them. First off, obviously you need to be at least 18 years old and able to legally purchase a firearm in the United States. The package will be given away at the training class and you must be present at the class to claim the rifle and ammo. If you are entering this drawing and live out of state, after the class, the rifle will be transferred to your local FFL where you will be responsible for any transfer and background check fees. See below for special exceptions that are necessary for CA, MA, NY, & CT. Once again, this class is October 19-21, 2012. We will be selecting the winner about 3 weeks before the class in order to allow transportation arrangements to be made by the winner, in case they live out of state. If you are the winner and you are not able to make it to the class, you will forfeit all prizes and a new winner will be selected.

This is how rifles ought to be given away. Ammo, a good setup, and most importantly the training with a reputable instructor. This contest motivated me to enter right away because it sets an ideal that no one else has set and I understand that is thanks to the help of a few wonderful folks. 702 shows people that training is just as important as the rifle itself. I spoke with one of the 702 representatives today at NFA, thinking the raffle was done at the shop. He was very nice, gave me his card and directed me here! This is an excellent feeling rifle, and straight from NFA is quite cheap but with all the nice upgrades it turns it into rifle only many of us dream to own!
Just for clarification, the lower receiver and rifle builds you are referring to from NFA have nothing to do with this giveaway. Not the same products and nowhere near the same price point. This would be a great gift for my wife. She has never been in the military but has worked with a major defense contractor UAV aircraft and has completed 2 tours in Iraq and 3 tours in Afghanistan. Winning this would be a great accomplishment for all she has done supporting our troops.
This would be a sweet way to break in to the AR shooting world. I am in the Air Force and have done 1 tour in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan as well as one in Kuwait. I would greatly appreciate an AR of this caliber to have for myself.

I’m deaf and having training with Larry Vickers is awesome. He does the show and tell. There are always going to be people who push the boundaries too far. Ben has told me about a couple people around Vegas who stop in to the shops and fill out every entry form they have then return the following week and do it again. And that’s just for a spot in the class.
Some people here have used proxy servers and created multiple accounts to enter from. I’m not ignorant of their tactics and I would rather see an enthusiastic person like Codie win it than the tools who have registered with email addresses like “702shootergiveaways@yahoo.com”

Late last night I honestly had a dream that I was in a class, it was in the evening or night (I could not tell which) with a handful of others, and we were in some sort of poorly lit shooting range. The instructor; in which I could not make out his face was what seemed to be a giant, larger than life and an excellent shot. He was making smaller than a dime size groups at 100yd with standard iron sights it was remarkable. I don’t remember really anything else, it is hard for me to recall my dream. At first I was a little hesitant to post this among other reasons, but if I don’t it will eat at me for days! This dream made me realize that I should not give up on this phenomenal giveaway. I had a dream that you didn’t win anything but still showed up like a true fanboy. In my dream you caught a ricochet and had to be life flighted out. Then the life flight helicopter crashed and only the crew survived. After that Bravo Company gave free lightweight carbines out to everybody who entered this giveaway. Except for you of course because you were then deceased.

Well I’m a Lil new in the gun world I guess, I grew up with overprotective parents. But now that I’ve had the chance to start up I can’t stop! All I have right now is a savage axis 308 that I love and an ak-47 WASR-10 on layaway. ETA 7/2/2012. But I would LOVE to add this to my now ever-growing collection. One of the shops I go to regularly has told me about people filling out books of entry forms at a time and then they don’t have forms for others to fill out because of these jackasses. Kudos to Ben Bunker and 702shooter for giving back to the gun community. This is a prime example of what this sport is all about. The LAV package is awesome by itself but the the rifle giveaway is the cherry on top. I held this AR at Guns and Ammo Garage a few weeks ago and let me tell you, pictures do not do it justice.
This is an amazing oppertunity.I would really make the best of this prize if I win.I am a disabled Veterean,former hostage,and well versed in firearms.My buddies and I have recently started going to an outdoor range on Windy Gap Mountain each friday.It feels great t start shooting again.We fire every caliber you can possibly dream of.I have spent the last four years recovering from injurys suffered while on active duty,I currently spend about as much time in the Veterans Hospital as I do at home.This would be a welcome addition to my home.As I recall all the rounds I fired thru my M-16 and my favorite M-60,i’m starting to get antsy about the possibility of winning this contest.So that being said best of luck to everyone.

I’m so happy I decided to walk into my local dealer to check out a gun for my wife (S&W 686) and i saw this (considering she said “the only way you are getting another gun for yourself is if it is free”). I do however have a question about the 3 classes what time of day or night are they suppose to take place (for work/religious reasons). other than that this contest looks amazing and kudos for being able to throw together such an amazing package.

It’s not 3 classes, it’s a 3 day class. The winner must attend all 3 days. At this time, the hours have not been set but I can tell you that they will be full day long classes and not in the evening.

Unfortunately, the class is three days and the curriculum will build on each day, so you would need to be there for all three days. Your situation wasn’t something I had considered, but we might be able to do something about it for next time. It’s just that weekends are so much more convenient for all involved (don’t have to take time off of work, etc.). Sorry about that!

I saw this AR on display over at Wild West Guns today. It’s a sweet little rifle and is much lighter than any AR I’ve ever owned. I’ll be crossing my fingers and praying to baby Jesus.
to 702, a couple of questions and I apologize if this has already been asked but to try and sift through 2700 comments will just take a long time….. Will the class your are so graciously giving away, will there be spots available to purchase if we want to attend the class and we didn’t win? Also, i appreciate the time you took to bring this out and show it off at NFA last weekend. It’s always good to get a lopok at these projects in person.
Last question I have, in the post you say we can go to several local gun stores to enter the drawing for the class (just the class, not the rifle package and the class), well, I went to Northwest Arms to do just that and there were no entry forms that I saw. Also there was no eveidence that the drwaing could be entered there at all, so what does one do in that situation? Actually, there are 16 spots in the class but Ben is being all greedy like and keeping one for himself. The nerve!
No classes are available for purchase.
It was nice of NFA to invite me out for their event. I get out to as many of those kinds of things as possible. Right now the rifle is on the front counter at Wild West Guns and it should be there until I take it to the Crossroads of the West gun show on June 9th & 10th. After that I’ll be rotating it through some of the other stores who are participating in the Vickers Class promotion.
As for no entry forms at Northwest Arms, part of that is due to others who stop by weekly and fill out ALL the forms.
However, there should have been a box on a counter somewhere there. If you don’t see it, just ask Tom, Michelle, or Patrick.

Thanks for the reply. Im gonna head over to Wild West guns and have another look at that rifle anyway, it is a nice set up. I will see if there are some entry forms there as I am very intersted in that class. It would be nice to win the whole package but the knowledge to be had from the class is worth more than the whole package in my opinion. I need to talk with the guys at Wild West anyway, got some work to be done on my Rem 700… Thanks again for all your good info out there….
Hopefully they have some more forms. There were only 4 or 5 left yesterday morning.

I was just at Northwest Arms today buying some Glock mags. The entry box is still there, but off to one side when you enter (by the tv viewing area). There was also an almost full booklet of entry forms sitting in front of it, on the table. You may have to hunt around a little there, but they do still have them. Bust Michelle’s chops about it if she’s there.

Question…win or not, I’m curious if anyone knows of any good carbine classes out by Los Angeles? It’d be awesome to get a spot in this class but Vegas is a hike if I go to additional classes, etc. Thanks for the advice!
In fact, I do.
Mossie Tactics offers carbine, handgun, and shotgun classes and they are based in Los Angeles. Their schedule shows a “Level 3 Carbine” class in October. Not sure what their requirements are to attend that class but I’m sure they would love to hear from people like you who are interested in the series. Buck Mossie will be Larry’s assistant instructor for the October Vegas class.

Thanks 702. I’ve only put about 150 rds through my current AR so the lvl 3 class would probably be beyond my skill level with the weapon but the class and Mossie sound great. I’m going to keep an eye on the schedule and check out the Pistol 1 class and hopefully the Carbine 2 class after the Carbine class out in Vegas
I spent some time talking with 702 and looking over this rifle last week at the New Fontier Armory sale. I completely forgot to come here and enter until my wife pulled the washed up business card out of my pocket. Count me in for sure. I’ve always wanted to train with LAV.

I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I completely agree with you. On the other, I can already see people complaining about not knowing so the more I remind them, the better I will feel about not awarding the prizes to those who haven’t paid attention.
The other thing is, after I started posting about it in the comments, the number of good comments increased.
Some days it bothers me more than others. Truth be told, the energy would be better spent on the new projects I’m working on.
