Timney AR-15 3lb Skeletonized Trigger

I once heard the guys at Timney refer to this as their “tacticool” trigger and just by looking at it, you can see where that name comes from.  The AR-15 Skeletonized trigger from Timney ships preset with either a 3 or 4 pound trigger pull.   This single stage drop-in trigger has zero creep and minimal reset making it ideal for precision shooters.

We included a 3lb version of this trigger on the Precision Rifle we raffled off last December.  During the barrel break in process, one of our local long range shooters commented that he liked the pull because it is a little “heavier” than the triggers used on most precision bolt guns.  To date, I have not shot any of these long range bolt guns so the Timney trigger feels very lite to me, and I consider that a good thing.   I guess it’s just a matter of personal experience and taste.  Either way, the trigger breaks extremely crisp and it helps tremendously with consistent groups.

The only “improvement” I would like to see Timney make is to put some sort of grooves or texture on the trigger face.  It’s a slightly wide smooth surface and the addition of this feature could give it a much more positive/reassuring feel.

Personally, I love this trigger.  Yes, they are a bit spendy but the way I see it, if I’m building rifles with custom barrels and so forth, there is no reason to skimp on the trigger.   I am currently about 3/4 of the way done with a 6.8 build and this trigger was the first part I purchased for the lower receiver.  I don’t have a lot of experience with other aftermarket triggers but to be honest, I’m so happy with this one that I do not feel the need to check out any others at this time.  I will continue using the Timney 3lb Skeletonized triggers in any of my AR builds.

I have this exact trigger on my “tacticool” 6.8 AR, and it is absolutely amazing. I can be at the range and go from one of my good bolt guns to this, and back and forth, without any surprises.

IMHO, if I had a choice to make only one change to an AR, it would be this trigger.

In process of building an AR. A nice trigger would definately be a plus.

I like it a lot and would love to have it. It is sexy, stylish and menacing all at the same time.
