THIS IS AN INACTIVE GIVEAWAY!

Slide Fire Solutions SSAR-15 Stock

Over the years there have been a number of products which make claim that they effectively assist the shooter with “bumpfiring” an AR-15. They loosely throw around terms like “machine gun” and “full auto” etc… To be perfectly honest, most of those products have failed miserably and some have been banned altogether by the ATF because of their use of springs and/or mechanical components which do not comply with current Federal law. The guys over at Slide Fire Solutions believe there is more than one way to skin a cat. They have come up with a different take on the idea and designed the SSAR-15 stock as a way to effectively “bumpfire” your AR-15 wile still managing to get approval from the ATF.

My personal plight for rapid fire AR’s:

I bought my first AR-15 about 20 years ago and was instantly hooked on the platform. Not knowing any better, at that time, I thought I could have it converted into a “machine gun.” So, off I went to a gun show to find somebody who could do the conversion for me. The first person I asked informed me that as of 1986, what I was asking him to do was illegal. We then discussed drop in auto sears and when he mentioned the cost, I was less than thrilled.

Hellfire (black) & HellStorm 2000 (gold)

Some time later, I was at another gun show where I was introduced to the Hellfire trigger system. This device attaches to the trigger guard and applies tension to the back of the trigger forcing it forward in hopes of making bump firing easier. Of course, I bought one then ran home to install it and have some fun. Most people who are familiar with the Hellfire device will tell you that it’s complete crap and doesn’t work very well at all. Again, I was let down.

A couple of years after that I stumbled onto the HellStorm 2000 which is basically an upgraded version of the Hellfire. Once again I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the results were the same. The product sucked and I was out another $30-$40. At this point, I gave up on the entire idea and since then have just enjoyed the gun for what it is, a semi-automatic rifle.

Moving on…

Besides the fact that neither of the above mentioned products worked worth a damn, they were also not very practical. The only way I was able to get them to kinda work was to lock my thumb into my belt loop and fire from the hip. Obviously this solution created some issues with accuracy as well as safety. The SSAR-15 addresses each of these issues by allowing the shooter to operate the firearm from virtually any position including the way you are supposed to utilize a stock, from your shoulder. This lets you use your sights and maintain much better control of the gun, two things which are nearly impossible to do with the other products.

This thing is very easy to install. All you have to do is replace your pistol grip with the SSAR-15 Interface Block. The block locks in using the same screw as the pistol grip. Then you slide the stock over a Mill-Spec buffer tube and secure it using the lock pin modifier which is attached to the stock. As long as your buffer tube is aligned correctly, you’re good to go.

Slide Fire Soultions SSAR-15 Stock and Installed Interface Block

While this stock will significantly increase the rate of fire, it’s not the same that you will get from a full auto machine gun. We took this down to Discount Firearms and shot it side by side along with an M-16 and there is a definite difference between true full auto fire and the results achieved by bumpfire with this stock.

The SSAR-15 does have a couple of things I’m not real fond of:

IMG 5158 280x210 SSAR 15 Stock by Slide Fire Solutions

Interface Block & Grip

  1. It’s not all that attractive.
  2. Although Slide Fire Solutions does offer a receiver end plate with a single point attachment, there is no place to attach a sling directly to the stock. It would be cool if they would mold in a QD option into the next version.
  3. The aftermarket trigger guard had to be replaced with a stock one since the SSAR-15 would not slide over it.
  4. My last gripe has to do with comfort. Overall it is comfortable to shoot but depending on the size of your hands, it can pinch a nerve in your trigger finger when you lock into the finger rest. Is it enough for me to dislike the product? Absolutely not.

I’ve discussed this stock with a few local gun stores and most of them have some concerns. They believe that eventually this stock, like the Akins Accelerator, will be banned. My personal view on this is that I don’t care. For once, I have found a product that does what it says and worked the first time right out of the box. Since it’s currently approved by the ATF, I see no reason not to own one while I can. If they change the law, so be it. For now I can still have some fun without spending 12k+ on a transferable M-16.

As far as I am concerned, this stock is a “just for fun” type of thing. I would not choose it as a primary weapon for any sort of “real life” situation but if you already have a few AR-15′s or want to add some good times to your shooting then I’d consider picking up an SSAR-15 for something new and exciting to fire.

Slide Fire Solutions has sent us a new in box SSAR-15 stock to give away to one of our subscribers. To enter into this drawing, all you need to do is leave a comment below. The drawing will be on 10-1-11. Please review the “GIVEAWAYS” page for additional information.

Birthday huh? Seems to me that you’re the one who should be getting spanked then.

SlideFire August 30, 2011 at 10:39 am

Thanks for the great review! We are currently working on a couple of different designs for the AR15 right now. All future models will be compatible with the enhanced trigger guard (winter trigger guard). We are also working on a version that is designed to look more like the standard stock most people are familiar with. We are also working on a model for the AK47 that should be available within the first couple of months of 2012. Thanks again for the review and good luck to everyone for the drawing. Have fun shooting!

Deej August 31, 2011 at 8:29 pm

That stock was fun as hell to shoot and it’s very cool of you to sponsor this giveaway.

I LOVE the SSAR-15.

buddy August 30, 2011 at 11:22 am

looks like fun…. I agree, would be fun to have while you still can…

clarklhc August 30, 2011 at 12:12 pm

I want one, but $350.00 for a plastic stock just doesn’t seem attractive in this economy. That
being said, I understand the Manufacturer has to recove R&D costs, but not on my dime. If the
cost was set lower they could sell a bunch in a hurry!

perna August 30, 2011 at 12:55 pm

I have to admit, that thing does look like it would be fun to play with at the range. The price is way to high for what it is, if it was lower they would sell so many more.

verticlbob August 30, 2011 at 2:59 pm

That looks pretty cool.

rbrooks August 30, 2011 at 7:43 pm

I’ve made a comment twice now :)

looks like fun times, would enjoy owning one.

doeboy September 21, 2011 at 11:30 am

I have actually seen one of these a few months ago at a gun show in Raleigh, NC. Looked very cool and interesting. The real issue is the barrel wear that happens as a result of constant use of this. I mean I guess its pretty obvious that you will be putting more rounds through it, but overheating the barrel will reduce the life if your barrel isn’t solid. Looks like a lot of fun as it did at the show I saw it at.

m4bangr September 21, 2011 at 11:25 pm

Looks like a lot of fun. Wish they would redesign it because its ugly as hell. Also wish it could be used with a Magpul trigger guard.

SSG September 29, 2011 at 4:33 am

Having been in the Army a number of years I have fired the A1 and the A2, and have always been looking for that feeling from firing an automatic weapon… but with my own. Been looking at the SSAR 15 for some time now, only reason I haven’t bought one is honestly they are pretty expensive for what it is. Unfortunately, being in the military the pay isn’t all that conducive to buying such a luxury. Looking at it, seems like something that could be made… but then there is safety. And a little knowledge can bring great danger.
Please enroll me in the drawing, maybe I will have the oppurtunity to comment and compare to the M16 A1 and A2.

akavinny September 29, 2011 at 9:21 am

Just Saying; If I were to win the SSAR-15, I’d be very Thankful. But I would have to buy an AR 15. Now that would be ok,with me,for i know that it’s a Great product. So if im not the winner, that fine with me.Im waiting for Sure Fire to come out with something for my Mini-14 Ranch. Thank You & Good Luck to you all. SEMPER FI.

I tried the SSAR-15, I thought that it was awesome, but it seems that this is going to be an expensive hobby ;) A much cheaper alternative to a Class III weapon. I posted a video on YouTube —-> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5Rx8u-0aRU

Thanks again to Slide Fire Solutions and 702shooter.com

I want one!

hector1966 February 12, 2012 at 4:39 am

I think your assesmentof this product is right on. I to have been serching for such a device. Since I was a kid I use to play soldier, and held a stick for a machine gun. My brothers would do the same and we would have ourselves a hell of a time. As I grew up I never let go of the idea of one day having a “machine gun”. I like many others have done the bump fire to death. My youngest brother and I share the same interests in guns, and we have been resecheing this particular device. We havent found a real negative review on this stock. Yes, i’ve seen the ones that say that the stock isnt really all that attractive. But like you said, its for having fun and not for protection. I think my only gripe about this product isn’t about the performance but mostly the price. I know its a small price to pay for the little boy who played soldier with a stick. Thank you for your revies of this stock, and I hope I get to use it soon. Stay safe and free my friends…

This is the 2nd giveaway you have entered today that has already been given away. That tells me you aren’t bothering to read anything and are simply here to abuse the system in hopes of winning free shit. You’re entry of “I’m in” also tells me you didn’t bother to read the rules.

This sort of thing is not welcome here.

I really enjoy the idea of this SSAR-AR15 Bumpfire Stock. I have been amazed by it for quite some time now. I would love to own this and be able to use it. It looks very strategic and enjoyable. I hope to win. Thanks for the oppertunity.

702 July 14, 2012 at 3:33 pm

Good luck!

angusbangus August 14, 2012 at 6:59 am

Nice review (and I know I’m a year too late to win this thing). I appreciate the comparison to the cheaper alternatives – you probably just saved me $150 in frustration. There is certainly a siren song playing form the websites that offer some of the add-a-widget to the trigger guard solutions for less than $50.

One of your review comments was that the rate of fire is less than a true M-16. Personally, I think that’s a plus. Even 300 rounds/minute will empty an entire magazine in 10 seconds. When I was shooting ammunition on BURST provided by our Uncle, it was easy to forget sometimes that someone was paying for that ammo. However, when I’m at the range and blow through 120 rounds of 308 out of my AR, it hurts the pocket book a bit more. So I welcome a rate of fire slower than a full-auto gun. I look forward to mounting one on my rifle(s) while we can.

seahawkkid August 15, 2012 at 6:30 pm

Sounds like a great idea

jrod August 31, 2012 at 12:15 am

I would love to own one of these stocks, I’m getting ready to build a SBR and a slide fire stock would be real fun on it. I’ve always wanted a machine gun but this will be the closest I will ever get to owning one. Being a single father with custody of my 6 year old twin girls I have to save money for my gun and ammo purchases, my children always come first so I have to give up a lot of things and a lot of dreams to give them the things that they need. I’m hoping to soon start a gun trust so if something would ever happen to me my children might one day profit from my now small but one day hopefully large collection of firearms. Although they may want to keep them as they like to shoot their bb guns and are showing a real interest in shooting guns. Thank you for this giveaway.

steven1072 September 3, 2012 at 11:22 am

NICE!!!!!!!!!!

Descente September 3, 2012 at 5:24 pm

Count you in on a giveaway that happened last year and with a comment that doesn’t follow the giveaway rules?

Good luck with that.

j_deeney@yahoo.com September 28, 2012 at 9:51 pm

These things are bad @ss! Forget bump firing! I want controlled rapid fire! WOOO HOOO! I want to give the person who invented this stock a big hug(I hope it was a woman)! OK! Enough! Good luck to all and to all a good night! Yes, I used 8 exclamation points in this post.

mmak1617 October 15, 2012 at 6:22 pm
