Discount Firearms

Discount Firearms is a Las Vegas based gun store and shooting range….That’s the most positive thing I can say about this place.

When I first walked in, I noticed they have a good amount of retail space. Unfortunately that space is fairly empty and a number of the items on the shelves are covered in dust. From looking around the store I would guess that the last time they dusted the place was back around 2005 when they took the photos for their website.

As I entered the building there was a couple purchasing a firearm and three employees (one of them was the owner) helping them do it. There was another employee and one customer heading to their indoor range so the customer could qualify for his CCW. Then there were the two tourists anxiously reviewing the rental firearms but getting absolutely no service whatsoever. As for me, I walked the entire store twice then stood at the center register for a few more minutes.  By the time I was acknowledged I had been in the store for 15 minutes.

Speaking of the rental counter, this is what they say on their website: “Discount firearms has a wide selection of Machine Guns and Pistols for rent.” OK, I have a question. Where is this “wide selection” they are advertising? I saw a small amount of “machine guns” and a below average amount of regular guns for rent.

As I mentioned before, yeah they have an indoor range but to be honest, it’s not worth my time to go into any specific details about a place that is so improperly managed and staffed with people who clearly don’t care about their customers.

Now let’s address the name issue. “Discount Firearms” implies exactly that….DISCOUNT firearms. Apparently in their world, the word “discount” means “higher priced” as there is obviously no discounts associated with the cost of their firearms. That being said, as a potential customer, I definitely felt discounted by the lack of service and generally lazy attitude displayed by every employee I saw.

When I was finally greeted I was asked “Do you need help with something?” To which I replied yes and asked for a business card. The employee handed me the card and then I asked if the owner was available. I’d like to point out that Anna, who is an owner, was standing less than three feet away and pretending not to listen to the conversation. The employee then asked me why I wanted the owner and went so far as to state that: “The owner has the privilege of customer screening.”  I handed him my business card and informed him that I wanted to learn more about their store and give them some free advertising. He asked for my name and phone number then said he would pass it along. My guess is the card hit the trash can before their door closed behind me.

IMHO, the bottom line is that everything about this place sucks. The only light at the end of the tunnel is the “For Sale” sign that has been hanging on their website for many MANY months.

Take my advice and avoid this place. There are plenty of other Vegas area gun stores who will be more than happy to provide you lower prices and quality service with a smile.

The last time I got good service while being there was when George still worked there.

That sums it up perfectly! Only thing i have purchased from that store is a box of .32 acp out of 5 trips there… Going back about a year there was a DPMS 308LR that i was interested in for 1200, now remember that was still the height of the Obammy rush. Left the store so i could think it over and see if i could squeeze the bank account. I returned 3 days later and was ready to buy it, only problem was they raised it to 1500 since i was interested in it. No deal!!! I left and decided to check out Citadel when they still focused on guns and walked out with the same style rifle for $900 cash. Thank you Discount for putting me in touch with the most accurate gas gun i have seen from your competitors store.

Don’t even waste the gas going there.

Im pretty patient and laid back but this is my first ever negative review of a gun store in the LV area.

I was in there about 2 years ago, with money to spend. After standing at the counter looking at the rifles on the rack (behind the counter where i really couldnt see them very well) for about 15 minutes, I got tired of being ignored and left. Then I went to American Shooters and bought a DPMS AR15.

I havent been back. I have better things to do than be ignored when I have money to spend in a gunstore, there are other ones in town that are very courteous and that actually want my business.

My last experience with Discount Firearms is much as you related in this article 702. When George was behind the counter, the place rocked. In 2008 when I visited, it still wasn’t bad, even purchased a pistol there.

I believe the place has fallen due to lack of interest and apathy. The owners want to sell…it hasn’t sold….and they are doing themselves an injustice by running the store and it’s reputation into the ground.

I was in there about 2 years ago shooting in there range.I put my target out to 7yds and began shooting at it at the rate of 1 shot per second all hitting the x ring. All the sudden the Range Supervisor who was sitting at his post behind us SHUTS OFF ALL THE LIGHTS FOR 5 SECONDS!It was pitch black in there.I had my girlfriend, her brother and dad in there shooting on diffrent lanes with me.Range guy says with atitude your shooting to fast!I nearly Lost It.Not for the fact that I was getting atitude, but I felt it was a Huge saftey Hazzard.Having my girls family there is the only thing that saved that P.O.S from getting his ass kicked! At this point her brother was upset by this as well so I asked him to take his SIS and DAD out to the car and I would get all the gear.I went out to the Sales Floor Yelling at Anna about what just occured.I could not contain my anger anymore.Because the more I thought about it the more Pissed off it got me.I have handled hanguns for over 15 years and nothing I did was a safty hazzard or warranted that reaction.Anna did refund my money though.Unfortunatley the employee she Hired cost her my buisness.Havent been there since.

Quite a few good store in the area. Click “GUN STORES” under the categories on the left. If you like, you can also PM me through the forums or use the contact form at the top of the site to get in touch with me and we can discuss what you are looking for and which stores might be better options for you.

I am just looking for a friendly shop that has a variety of things such as different targets, fire arms, rifles, accessories, ammo, stuff like that. I am looking to purchase a new firearm in the next month or so because I am selling my old hi point 9mm to my brother in law. Time to upgrade lol. Thanks, I didnt even see the gun store link the first time, I think it was the lack of sleep I had lol.
Thanks again ,
James
